Bihar State Co-op Bank: Chaubey sure to be re-elected Chairman

Bihar’s cooperator Ramesh Chaubey’s election as the Chairman of Bihar State Cooperative Bank yet again, has surprised his opponents. It will be his third term as the Chairman of the bank.

Though officially his name is yet to be announced, Monday was the last date for the candidates to file their nomination papers for the election of the board of directors of Bihar State Cooperative Bank.

The nominations filed by candidates are less than the total number of seats for directors and the election slated for 8th could not be held. As a result, the candidates who filed the nomination papers have been elected unopposed.

Soon after filling the nomination papers, the candidates rushed to the headquarters of Biscomaun where its Chairman and well-known cooperator Sunil Kumar Singh warmly welcomed them.

Chaubey represented Sasaram DCCB on the board of the Bihar State Cooperative bank and in the recently concluded election of Sasaram DCCB, was elected as the third time Chairman.

Later on talking to the Indian Cooperative correspondent Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Kumar Singh said, “With the unanimous decision of the candidates who filed their nomination papers, Ramesh Chandra Chaubey has been elected as the Chairman of Bihar State Cooperative Bank”.

“Though, the official announcement will be made later but it has been decided unanimously that Chaubey is going to play the third innings as the Chairman of the bank”, said Sunil on the phone.

However, Ramesh Chaubey was not available for comments. The board comprises 14 directors (13+1 Chairman) out of which only eight nominations were filed and the remaining seats went vacant.

The candidates who have been elected as the directors included, Muzaffarpur DCCB Chairman Amarnath Pandey, Ara DCCB Chairman Satyendra Singh, RJD MLA from Gurua constituency and Magadh DCCB Chairman Vinay Yadav, Sitamarhi DCCB Chairperson Madhu Priya, Munger DCCB Chairman Mintu Devi, Purnea DCCB Chairman Ali Raja and Vaishali DCCB Chairman Sudhir Mishra.

The election also saw the coming together of Amar Pandey- a strong co-operator from Muzaffarpur to Chaubey’s fold. Pandey who is the son of well-known Congress leader Raghunath Pandey was elected unopposed.
