Andhra CM plans to strengthen cooperatives

N Kiran Kumar Reddy,Chief Minioster of Andhra  has pitched for  increase in the interest subvention to cooperative societies in the state from 1.5 per cent to 2 per cent.

Prime minister Manmohan Singh and Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee would be requested by the Chief Minister for increasing NABARD’s refinance percentage to 70 per cent.

Chief minister has expressed  an urgent need on the part of the cooperative societies to instill confidence in farmers in a meeting with the officials of cooperative department.

Lauding Mulkanoor Society where all the needs of the farmers are met under ‘one-stop shop’ policy, CM insisted on raising cooperatives on its line.

CM has also grand plan to set up godowns to save the grains. He plans to invest Rs 8pp crores to  construct godowns of the capacity to store 18 lakh tones.
