Amreli: PM hopes co-ops would ignite Honey Revolution

Gujarat which is already ahead in the co-operative sector was dolled up to receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi who does not frequently come to a co-operative function. The venue was Amreli and the hosts were cooperators led by Dileepbhai Sanghani.

And from the pedestal of AMR dairy, Modi gave a clarion call to usher in Sweet Revolution and Blue Revolution- the two revolutions of a piece with Green and White Revolutions.

Showering Sanghani with uncut praises, Modi said ”When I was chief minister in Gujarat, together with Sangahni we saw a dream of promoting the dairy sector in a big way. Today I congratulate Dileepbhai for his sincere efforts”. Prime Minister said this while inaugurating a new plant at AMR Dairy.

Modi continued “At that time, Sanghani who was a cabinet minister in the state government had the responsibility for developing the dairy sector. It is due to his commendable efforts that the sector continues to forge ahead”, said PM Modi.

Coming to Sweet Revolution Modi said “ I had also urged Dileepbhai and some others to think about how to collect honey from farmers so as to usher in honey revolution with the potential to transform the lives of people in the Saurashtra region”, he remarked.

PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for a honey plant and the AMR Dairy’s ice cream plant. He announced that the GOI will allocate a fund of Rs 40 crore for the successful completion of this work.

The Prime Minister said Sweet revolution or “madhu kranti” and the Dairy Sector should be banded together. He also noted increasing participation of youth in the cooperatives and said he was happy to see younger people coming to the fore and leading the cooperative sector.

Modi also inaugurated a newly constructed market yard of APMC, at Amreli and College of Dairy Science.

Modi, who celebrated his 67th birthday on Sunday, also inaugurated the Sardar Sarovar Dam and the Statue of Unity in Gujarat. Both the events were celebrated with thousands of people in attendance.

Modi added Gujarat has the largest coastline in the country and the Saurashtra region can reap rich benefits from it.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel, Ex Chief Minister, Anandiben, Union Agriculture Minister of State for Agriculture Parshottam Rupala, Jitu bhai Vaghani, Gujarat BJP President, GCMMF Chairman Jethabhai Patel and a large number of people were present on the occasion.

“With the Gujarat elections round the corner, you can call the Prime Minister for all kinds of inaugurations; it is election season”, quipped his adversaries.
