Amin meets Ministers, call for amendment in co-op act

A delegation led by Ghanshyambhai Amin Chairman of Gujarat State Cooperative Union met the state Deputy Chief Minister Nitin bhai Patel and Cooperative Minister Ishwarsinh Patel at the secretariat in Gandhinagar on Tuesday and discussed various issues related to the cooperative sector. The delegation urged them to resolve the issues soon.

In their representation the delegation stressed the short tenure of office bearers of the specified coop societies and requested the ministers to extend the term from two and half years to five years by amending the state cooperative act and getting office bearers more time for strengthening the societies.

The leader of the delegation Amin, who is both the Chairman of Gujarat state co-op union and one of the Vice-Presidents of the national apex body NCUI, said the Grant-in-aid sanctioned to Gujarat State Cooperative Union should also be enhanced and revised upwardly so as to ensure the smooth functioning of Cooperative Education which is the prime objective of Gujarat State Cooperative Union. This would greatly strengthen the cooperative sector in the state, he said.

The ministers listened to the delegation and assured them the matter would soon be dealt with. The delegation handed over a memorandum to the ministers. Besides Amin, GSCU director Maheshbhai Patel, Vithal bhai Patel and others were present on the occasion.
