Come September, the season of AGMs sets in for hundreds of cooperative bodies across the country. All these bodies are busy preparing to welcome delegates at their headquarters in Delhi. NCUI – the apex body of cooperatives in the country is holding its AGM on 24th Sept in Delhi.
There are several national level cooperative federations, which are preparing to hold Annual General Meetings. Interestingly, Delhi is home to more than eighteen national cooperative federations, which in effect means the town is going to welcome delegates from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
The largest fertilizer co-op body IFFCO remained ahead of all yet again this year and held its AGM in the month of May. As the govt go-ahead for physical mode of holding AGM was yet to come, IFFCO held its AGM in a hybrid mode at its headquarters in Delhi.
This year with the Covid cases receding in numbers, the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies has given approval to multi state co-ops to organize their AGMs physically. This has led to a wider participation by members at AGMs.
Coming to the details, NCUI has around 260 co-op societies as its members and according to NCUI sources about 250 delegates are likely to participate in the AGM scheduled for 24th September. Dileep Sanghani will preside over the AGM for the first time after becoming the NCUI Chairman.
It bears recall that the NCUI AGM has been kept a day prior to the mega Co-op Conference in which Union Cooperative Minister Amit Shah will be the chief guest. The idea is not to call delegates twice to Delhi.
The second largest fertiliser cooperative Kribhco has announced its plans to conduct its AGM on 16th September 2021. Kribhco bosses are busy preparing to welcome delegates who are going to count no less than 500.
Nafed is slated to hold its AGM on 17th September 2021. The agri co-op has been on the growth path earning handsome profit as well as business, year after year. This year there is an added excitement as the agri cooperative earned a net profit of Rs 494.28 crore. The board of Nafed has decided to give 12 percent dividends to their shareholders.
Many other National federations including the apex body of UCBs and Credit Societies announced plans to organize their AGM on 27th September 2021 whereas National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factory AGM is slated for 22nd September 2021.
Apex bodies like Fishcopfed, National Labour Cooperative Federation and Nacof board are busy in giving final strokes to the dates of their meetings. It is notable that many UCBs including Saraswat Cooperative Bank and other multi State cooperative banks of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and other banks have also planned to hold their meetings before 30th September, as it is mandatory in MSCS Act for multi-State co-ops to hold their AGMs before the said date.
