AGM: Minister admits Biscomaun’s role in benchmarking urea rate

Taking Biscomaun Chairman’s advice on fighting corruption in positive spirit, Bihar Cooperative Minister Rana Randhir Singh not only attended Biscomaun’s 30th Annual General Meeting on Wednesday in Patna, but also lauded it for its exemplary service to the farmers of the state.

Biscomaun is a price stabilizer and has ushered in an era of fair pricing for urea- were the theme of Rana’s speech. “It was indeed due to Biscomaun that all those involved in the black marketing of urea in the state in the past have migrated somewhere else”, added Yogendra Kumar whose poster along with that of the Minister dominated dais.

Addressing cooperators and farmers of Bihar & Jharkhand, Rana also lauded IFFCO for reposing its faith in Biscomaun. The marketing cooperative is doing an admirable job supplying Urea at reasonable costs to the farmers of both the states, the minister noted.

“In spite of limited sources Biscomaun is paying its employees’ salaries on the 1st day of month which is commendable. We are also happy to know that Biscomaun is planning to build a mall for providing consumer goods to the people”, Rana remarked.

In his presidential speech Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Kumar Singh informed that in the last fiscal year the marketing cooperative has done the retail sale of urea to the tune of Rs 225 crore and in FY 2018-19 we have targeted to increase our retail sale to Rs 400 crore through our 155 centers spread over the state.

Singh said in the month of August alone the retail sale of Rs 50 crore has already been achieved. Biscomaun is selling the Neem Coated Urea for Rs 265 to the farmers. Strict action would be taken against officials if they charge even a farthing extra; also those whistle-blowers who help us know the truth would be rewarded with Rs 2000, Singh said on the occasion.

Commenting on the AGM of Biscomaun, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi tweeted, “Glad to share that role & support of #IFFCO was appreciated by the cooperators & farmers of #Bihar & #Jharkhand for the upliftment of @BISCOMAUN1 in its AGM in #Patna. @iffcoyogendra Marketing Director IFFCO also addressed the delegates. Congratulations @SunilKu89918726”.

Singh further informed that we have decided to build a mall at Deoghar and Forbesganj for providing consumer goods like refined oil, basmati rice, honey, flour, besan, pickles and others. The marketing cooperative is also constructing a 24 room guest house, he said.

IFFCO Marketing Director, Yogendra Kumar who was impressed with the long hours given in conducting the AGM said unlike many other co-ops where AGMs are reduced to a mere formality, Biscomaun AGM was remarkable for conducting the process thoroughly. “It started at 10am and ended at 4 pm in the evening”, Kumar added.

Listing IFFCO’s contribution to help farmers of Bihar through Biscomaun Kumar informed that IFFCO has provided the grant-in-aid of Rs 2 crore to Biscomaun for repairing warehouses and 100 laptops for digitalization of agriculture centers.

Bihar State Cooperative Bank Chairman Ramesh Chaubey, delegates from Bihar and Jharkhand, Bihar State Cooperative Federation Chairman Vinay Kumar Shahi, Satendra Narayana Singh, Amar Pandey, Ajay Kumar Singh, Ram Kelwar Singh and other eminent dignitaries graced the occasion.
