Vaikunthbhai Mehta Lecture at NCUI Auditorium also fell on the day of 4th World Fisheries Cooperative Day and the Chairman of Fishcopfed Mr Prakash Lonare used the occasion to seek cooperators’ help in solving fishermen’s problems.
We represent the poor fisherman and it emboldens me to see all of you here. We have lots of expectation from this new government and I would seek your support in lobbying for us, Lonare said.
“There should be one policy related to fisheries across the country. We have ensured more than 42 lakhs fishermen so far and every year we attempt to increase this figure. The present insurance amount is one lakh but we wish to increase it further, he said in an extempore speech which was being lapped up by the audience.
Lonare insisted that the cooperators should unite together and begin dialogue with the new government. There are several issues on which we would like to have a sympathetic ear from the government side.
Fishcopfed Managing Director B K Mishra was also present on the occasion.
On the occasion, a book on “Glimpses of World Fisheries” was released. Prakash Lonaware, Chairman, B K Mishra, MD and ICA D-G Mr Charles Gould released the same.
