The availability position of Urea in the country is very comfortable. For this purpose, the Department of Fertilizers has procured more than 10 Lakh MT of imported Urea in January 2015 for prepositioning in the States. Additional procurement of imported Urea has been done in April, May & June 2015, claims government publicity department.
With increased domestic production by 10 Lakh MTs and reduction of demand due to introduction of 100% Neem Coated Urea, the availability position of Urea is adequate and comfortable, it says.
The government sources assure that the Department of Fertilizers along with the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation is regularly monitoring the stock position with the States in order to ensure adequate and timely supply of fertilizes to the farmers for the current Kharif season.
