Have allowed import with heavy heart: Radha Mohan

ureaMD of Pradeshik Cooperative Federation (PCF) of Uttar Pradesh R.P. Goswami says farmers in the state will soon be supplied with enough fertilisers as the state govt has been allowed by the center to import fertilisers.

Referring to the issue Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said at a cooperative function in Delhi that the Centre has allowed UP to import only with a heavy heart as the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to export and not to import. But he hoped that the situation would soon change with re-starting defunct fertilizer plants in the country.

According to the MD, the state govt. will buy around 5,000000 tonnes of fertilisers from abroad in the next days. The state cooperative minister Shivpal Singh Yadav has already had a series of successful meetings with officials in Delhi, the MD informed.

Meanwhile, PCF chairman Aditya Yadav has also claimed the center’s permission to import fertilisers will greatly ease the difficulties being faced by farmers in Uttar Pradesh.

The PCF MD Mr. Goswami said while the state requires 1,690,000 tonnes of urea but it could manage to get only 78,6000 tonnes from the center.
