Black marketing of fertilisers was rampant in Bihar and was the cause for the spike in its prices in the state where vendors were forcing farmers to buy diammonium phosphate along with urea, BJP MLA Amrendra Pratap Singh said.

Singh raised a supplementary question during question hour in the state assembly and demanded stern action against vendors forcing farmers to buy fertilisers not required by them and strong measures against black marketing of fertilizer products.

Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh assured the MLA that the state government would take action against guilty vendors.

MLAs and even the general people should bring to the attention of the concerned district Magistrates irregularities in the sale of fertilizers, he said.

There are district-level monitoring committees with the MLA of the concerned area as one of the members to check black marketing of fertilisers.

When Indiancooperative.com raised the issue of black marketing of fertilizers before Kribhco Vice-chairman Mr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav he said that Kribhco distributes fertilizers only through cooperative societies and as such there is no question of black marketing.

On the issue of checking black marketing of fertilizer Mr Yadav said that it must be stopped at all cost.
