Will Rupala look after Cooperation Division?

While the Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh is taking inordinate time in allocating departments to his three newly appointed ministers , media buzz points out at Purshottam Rupala as the Minister likely to be entrusted with the cooperation department.

Leaders from the cooperative world including Dhananjay Kumar Singh and NAFED Director Ashok Thakur met the newly appointed Minister of State Purshottam Rupala in the Agriculture Ministry last week.

Taking to Indian Cooperative Ashok Thakur said ”I and my colleagues including Vijay Singh Tomar from Kisan Morcha BJP, felicitated the newly appointed Minister of state for Agriculture. It was our first meeting with him after he took over as the new minister.

When Indian Cooperative correspondent asked him about the issues discussed during the meeting, thakur said ” we talked about releasing NAFED bail-out package, the minister promised to do it sooner than later and instructed his Principal Secretary to fix an appointment with the cooperators”.

We also talked on the issue of Super Bazaar and how to strengthen the coop movement, he added.

Some cooperators feel that NAFED bail-out package may get delayed as the Minister of State for agriculture Mohan Bhai Kunadriya was recently dropped from the Ministry and Rupala who is the new kid on the block would take time to learn things about his ministry. Rubbishing the idea, Thakur said ” it is the Narendra Modi government’s initiative that does not hinge on any one single individual” thakur asserted.

He claimed the newly appointed Minister Purshottam Rupala will support the cooperative movement. On the issue of NAFED MD Sanjeev  said now the right person is in the right seat.” he said.

Though Thakur denied that he has any idea if Rupala is going to oversee cooperatives he said it looks Rupala is going to play the role of Kundariya in long run.
