In an effort to bolster the export capabilities of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) in Gujarat, VAMNICOM, Pune organized a comprehensive three-day online training program from February 5th to 7th, 2024.
The training focused on familiarizing PACS members with the intricacies of exporting agricultural and horticultural products, particularly those associated with the National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL).
Dr. A.K. Asthana, Associate Professor, emphasized the importance of the training, which targeted products such as onions, cumin seeds, cotton, castor oil, Keshar mangoes, and various handicrafts from the Kutchchh region.
With around 1000 PACS from Gujarat already applying for NCEL membership, the program aimed to equip them with the necessary skills to tap into international markets effectively.
The training covered a range of topics essential for successful exporting, including registration with export promotion agencies, pre-export processes, export documentation, finding importers, accessing government export promotion schemes, and managing insurance and logistics.
Dr. Hema Yadav, Director of VAMNICOM, inaugurated the program and highlighted the significance of cooperative initiatives led by Shri Amit Shahji, emphasizing the role of NCEL under the Multi-State Cooperative Society Act 2002.
Hema underscored the potential for market access provided by the World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements and the supportive policy framework outlined in the 2023 International Trade Policy and district export promotion councils.
Participants were urged to capitalize on such transformative programs to realize the vision of “Sahakar se Samriddhi” (prosperity through cooperation) and maximize their export potential in the global market.
