Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM) recently conducted a Webinar on “Sustaining the Agriculture Sector through collectives, cooperative and Farmer producer Organizations Post Covid-19”, in which Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Govt. of India, Parshottam Rupala was the Chief Guest.
The webinar focused on sustaining agriculture as well as other parts of the country’s economy during the Covid 19 pandemic.
Speaking on the occasion Chief guest, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Parshottam Rupala said co-ops have to prepare themselves to beat the consequence of Covid 19.
The discussions were held on how to build effective collaboration and partnership between public and civil society organizations to mitigate the gap between market and farmers in the changed context, informs a press note issued by the institute.
In addition, the webinar discussed planning strategies for addressing challenges post Covid 19 helping in better evaluation techniques for project management agencies to promote farmer producer organizations and agriculture in the wake of Covid 19.
The webinar underlined the importance of understanding the need for re-imagining and re-inventing agriculture in the wake of the Wuhan virus and building a road map for a better economy through agriculture.
600 participants from different sectors like farmers, agriculture scientists, FPO, academia, ICAR- KVK agriculture industry attended the program.
The webinar was introduced by VAMNICOM Director Dr. K.K Tripathy followed by the distinguished speakers from NABARD, UNESCAP, RIS, Dhanuka, Department of Agriculture Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Asian Development Bank.
