Vamnicom imposes work from home; postpones Convocation

Due to the CoronaVirus pandemic, Pune based prestigious cooperative institution VaikunthBhai Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM) has postponed the Convocation for the students of PGDM-Agri Business Management (2018-2020 Batch) which was scheduled for 27th March 2020.

The much-celebrated event was to be inaugurated by Biswabhusan Harichandan, Governor of Andhra Pradesh, who had given his consent when the Vamnicom management approached him.

Reacting to the development, Vamnicom Director K K Tripathy said, “We have postponed the convocation function and also cancelled the training program of the Ministry of Women & Child Development.”

Calling the Corona scare a real threat for a country like India, Tripathy has also taken several measures to guard against the spread of the menace. “All employees including regular and contract faculty members have been asked to work from home”, he informed.

“All faculty and staff who as per the plan are not in the office on a particular day, must work effectively from home, and be accessible on phone and email”, Tripathy ordered.

“Since, all the meetings have been cancelled, the faculty members and staff while at their respective homes are requested to expedite research project write ups, documentation of consultancy activities and finalization of study visit reports and others”, his order stated.

The Vamnicom Director further said, “The above arrangements shall come into effect immediately and shall be in force up to 3rd April 2020”.

There are reports that the total number of coronavirus patients in Maharashtra has risen to 122 with three fresh cases from Pune and one from Satara. All of them have travel history to Peru, UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
