Uttarakhand: Minister calls meeting for faster pace of PACS computerization

Following Nabard Chairman G R Chintala advice urging co-op banks to expedite the process of computerization of PACCs, Uttarakhand Cooperative Minister Dhan Singh Rawat has asked the co-op banks of the state to complete the process of computerization of 670 PACCs  sooner than later.

Rawat said this while addressing a meeting attended by Cooperative Secretary Meenakshi Sundaram, officials of Cooperative Department and representatives of State Cooperative Banks and DCCBs held last week virtually.

The Cooperative Minister further added that the 80 percent work of computerization has already been done. “When the computerization work will be fully completed we will invite the Union Agriculture Minister and State Chief Minister to inaugurate it”, underlined Rawat.

Besides, Rawat also discussed the issue of linking co-op banks with modern payment systems. “I have given the instruction to the cooperative department to make a nodal officer for linking the cooperative bank with RTGS, E-Pay and  Gateway services. The banks are now eligible to avail these facilities as their NPAs have come down to 5 percent”, said the Minister.

Minister also stressed on expediting the process of opening 77 new branches, for which the approval has already been given by the Registrar of the Cooperative Department. “In the wake of covid-19 co-op bank should give facilities to the consumers at their doorstep and thus should install Mobile ATM vans”, stressed the Minister in the high-profile meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of the State Cooperative Bank, Dan Singh Rawat urged the Minister to get the employees at co-op banks vaccinated as soon as possible.  “Cooperative banks’ employees and officers are the front line workers”, he stated.

Uttarakhand State Cooperative Bank GM NPS Dhaka informed that out of the total NPAs of Rs 665 crores, Rs 140 crores have been collected till 31 March 2021. He said many officers are infected with Covid 19 and the loan campaign will resume vigorously after their recovery.

Uttarkashi DCCB General Manager Napalachayal said that the bank employees selected from IBPS have mostly moved to other jobs, so there is a shortage of staff and they asked for approval to hire employees on contract basis.

Tehri DCCB Chairman Subhash Ramola, Dehradun DCCB Amit Shah, Uttarkashi DCCB Chairman Vikram Sing Rawat, Nainital DCCB R S Negi, Udham Singh Nagar DCCB Joginder Rawat, Haridwar DCCB Chairman Pradeep Chaudhary and others attended the meeting.
