UP boast of two biggest co-ops : Radha Mohan

sahkar bhartiUttar Pradesh is boasting today of two of the best cooperatives in the world. They are doing wonderful and the business is thriving, said the Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh at a Sahakar Bharati function held in Lucknow on Monday.

One of the successful cooperatives is that of Mulayam Singh and family and the second one is Sonia Gandhi and Sons, he said to the sheer amusement of the audience. Mr Singh was scathing in his attack to the first family of Uttar Pradesh in his speech and blamed it for the poor performance of the cooperatives in the state.

Sahakar Bharati, the cooperative arm of RSS is active holding a number of cooperative functions across the country. Next week it is going to organize a function in Himachal Pradesh and on 21st November it has scheduled a programme in Patna.

Talking to Indian Cooperative Sahakar Bharati’s representative Shri Vijay Devangan emphasized the importance of the cooperative movement and said that it has potential of uplifting the lot of poor in the country. He sounded optimistic with the accession of Narendra Modi to the top post.

The cooperative function at Lucknow had about 750 participants coming from various parts of the state. Apart from the Minister there were some high-profile cooperative personalities including IFFCO Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi.

Dr Awasthi was quite happy with the function and saw a promise in the organizational set-up of Sahakar Bharati. Tweeting about the function he said “ Was in # Lucknow yesterday as guest speaker on cooperation on a function organized by#Sahakar Bharati . I was impressed by their commitment.”

In another tweet Dr Awasthi said “Union Minister for agriculture &coop #Radha Mohan Singh was chief guest in this. He assured to make coop vibrant & give it identity it deserves.”

Later, talking to Indian Cooperative Shri Devangan sounded confident of turning the cooperative movement into a meaning exercise, sooner than later.
