On the occasion of the closing ceremony of the 66th Cooperative Week, the apex body of Cooperatives NCUI and Kerala based Labour Cooperative-ULCCS organized jointly an interactive session on the topic of “Cyber Security, Cyber Forensics and Cyber Law in Cooperatives” at the NCUI headquarters on Wednesday in the presence of several eminent cooperators and experts.
The team of experts included Vinod Bhattathiripad, Vinod T and Vinod V V who have the vast expertise in this field. The experts enlightened the participants on how to save themselves from cyber frauds and disseminated theoretical information among them.
The participants also showed their keen interest in the interactive session and thanked the experts for making them aware of several aspects related to Cyber frauds.
The objective of the session was to explain cyber evidences and the recent paradigm shift in crime investigation in order to obtain crucial cyber evidences and suggest ways to remain vigilant in the cyber space.
In his address, Vinod Bhattathiripad who is advisor to the Kerala CM and ULCCS said mostly 90 percent cyber security issues happen because people are not vigilant and 10 percent are related to technology. He also explained to the participants with theoretical examples how anyone can hack through mobile phones.
“How to identify and trace a mobile phone was also a part of the interactive session. It was said each mobile phone in the world is uniquely identified with mobile phones, IMEI code and TMSI code”, he added.
The lack of technology adoption and awareness about cyber security issues lead to frauds in cooperatives, it was pointed out. Bhattathiripad further added that Cyber Law came into existence in 1996 in our country and the IT Act came into existence in 2002 by amending India Penal Code and others law. IT act section 69 A and 69 B are the most important.
Several NCUI top officials including CE N Satyanaryana, Ritesh Dey, NCCE Head Dr V K Dubey, Kishore, ULCCS and others participated in the session. Meanwhile expert urged NCUI to organize a 3 day session for other participants which can help them to be aware about the cyber laws.
