In a significant achievement for the cooperative banking sector, the Tamil Nadu State Apex Cooperative Bank (TNSCB) has reported remarkable financial growth for the fiscal year 2024-25, with its total business mix surpassing the Rs 41,000 crore mark.

According to figures available with the Indian Cooperative Desk, TNSCB has recorded total deposits of Rs 12,220.63 crore, with advances amounting to Rs 29,547.26 crore, bringing its total business to an impressive Rs 41,767.89 crore.

Further strengthening its financial health, the bank has posted a gross profit of Rs 241.61 crore, reinforcing its stability and commitment to sound banking practices.

Alongside TNSCB, various District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) have also displayed outstanding financial performance, further solidifying the role of cooperative banking in Tamil Nadu’s economy.

Among them, Tiruchirapalli DCCB secured the top position in total business with an impressive Rs 9,278.15 crore, followed closely by Salem DCCB, which recorded a business volume of Rs 9,173.70 crore. Kancheepuram DCCB claimed the third spot, achieving a total business mix of Rs 6,963.73 crore, a significant milestone in its banking operations.

When it comes to profitability, Villupuram DCCB emerged as the highest earner among the 23 DCCBs of Tamil Nadu, with a gross profit of Rs 56.43 crore. Chennai DCCB followed closely, securing the second position with Rs 50.35 crore, while Ramanad DCCB stood third, earning Rs 37.82 crore. These figures highlight the efficient banking strategies and robust financial management of Tamil Nadu’s cooperative banks.

The collective strength of TNSCB and the 23 DCCBs is reflected in their combined financial performance. Their total deposits stood at Rs 55,404 crore, while advances amounted to Rs 89,828 crore, leading to a massive business mix of Rs 1,45,233 crore. The cooperative banks also reported a cumulative gross profit of Rs 677.17 crore, reaffirming the sector’s financial stability and resilience.

This impressive performance reflects the growing confidence of the public in Tamil Nadu’s cooperative banking sector.

With a strong presence in both urban and rural areas, cooperative banks continue to serve as the backbone of the state’s financial system, providing affordable banking services, agricultural credit, and financial assistance to small businesses and self-help groups.

With robust financials and an expanding customer base, the Tamil Nadu State Apex Cooperative Bank and the DCCBs are poised for even greater success in the coming years.
