Sugar factories must adopt latest tech: Maha Sugar Commissioner

The Sugar Factories in Maharashtra are facing numerous problems as the most challenging crushing season is commencing from 15th October 2020, said Shekhar Gaikwad, IAS, Commissioner of Sugar, Maharashtra State, Pune while delivering inaugural address of a Seminar.

The on-line mode on Cloud Computing Seminar was organized by Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management, Pune on 30th September 2020.

In all 19 IT Officers from Sugar & Dairy Industries from Maharashtra participated in seminar.

Speaking on the occasion, the Sugar Commissioner said “Technology intervention will play crucial role in fulfilling the information requirement of farmers, members & management and therefore every sugar factory needs to increase their technology adoption in cost effective manner”

Dr. K. K. Tripathy, Director, VAMNICOM in his opening remarks emphasized on contents to be covered to acquaint the participants on know-how of cloud computing environment & also security concerns thereof.

Dr Y S Patil, Seminar Director briefed about the coverage of seminar & also basics of Cloud Computing environment & its necessity to Sugar & Dairy Industries.

Shri Sushant Kulkarni, R & D Head, JJIT Fintech Pvt. Ltd. gave an insights of cloud technology, commercial & implementation aspects with practical examples.

The seminar concluded with question answers by the participants on cloud environment. The participants appreciated the coverage of contents of the seminar.

It is no secret that sugar co-ops are passing through severe fund crunch and the state govt has moved forward to stand guarantee in many of the cases. Technology intervention in such a situation may prove a boon as it would help factories to implement cost-cutting in an effective manner, opined industry experts.
