Following in the footsteps of Vamnicom and NCCT, Karnataka based Souharda Federal Cooperative has been imparting cooperative training and awarding Diploma courses to hundreds of its members spread across many districts.

It bears recalling that the Karnataka State Souharda Federal Cooperative started Diploma courses for the employees of Souharda cooperatives from 01.01.2019 and so far a total of 1376 participants attended this course in 4 batches.

Later, an MoU was made with Karnataka State Rural and Panchayat State University Gadag to give more weight to this course and to involve youth in the cooperative sector. It was decided to conduct the course jointly with KSRDPRU, Gadag, informs a press release.

An agreement was also entered between Karnataka State Rural and Panchayat Raj University and Karnataka State Souharda Federal Cooperative. This agreement was signed by the Vice chancellor of University Vishnukanta S Chatpalli and the President of Karnataka State Souharda Souharda Federal Cooperative Shri G. Nanjan Gowda.

Registrar of the University Basavaraja Lakkanna and Sharan Gowda G., Managing Director of Souharda Federal Signed the MoU. On this occasion dignitaries and officers of the university and KSSFCL were present.

Karnataka State Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University Gadag and Karnataka State Souharda Federal Cooperative have jointly conducted the 2nd semester contact classes of Diploma in Co-op Course (DCBM) on 9th and 10th December 2023 at Bengaluru, Shivamogga, Udupi, Hubballi, Hospet, Jamakhandi, Bagalkot, Sindhanur and Bellad Bagewadi centers.

A brief study of the Souharda Cooperative movement in Karnataka underlines the fact that the novel experiment has succeeded to a great extent. The rise in the number of its members, growth in their deposits and on many other parameters, indicate a robust growth.

As of 31st March 2019, there were 4643 Souharda co-ops in the state but by 31st March 2022, it has been increased to 5534 co-ops. The deposits and loan base of these societies were Rs 18,004 crore and Rs 14,343 crore till 31st March 2019 respectively.
