A two-day national convention of Sahakar Bharati’s Dairy Cell was held at the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) auditorium in Anand, Gujarat, on May 24 and 25.
The convention began with a lamp-lighting ceremony attended by Gujarat’s cooperation minister Jagdish Vishwakarma, Amul Dairy chairman Vipul Patel, NDDB chairman Meenesh Shah, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University Vice-Chancellor Niranjan, GCMMF Chairman Shamal Patel, Sahakar Bharati National General Secretary Deepak Chaurasia, and Dairy Cell national head Devendra Sharma.
On the first day, the inaugural session featured Shankar Chaudhary, Chairman of Banas Dairy and Speaker of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, who shared his experiences in dairy development under the theme of “Success Stories.”
In the second session, scientists and experts from NDDB held detailed discussions on ways to improve milk quality and productivity, offering practical guidance to attending farmers and milk producers.
The third session featured a presentation by Anand Agricultural University vice-chancellor Kataria, who shared his research on indigenous cattle breeds. Following this, Gopal delivered a lecture on cow-based farming, highlighting its economic and environmental benefits.
On the second day, Amul Dairy Managing Director Jayen Mehta shared insights into Amul’s growth and success, discussing how the cooperative model has supported farmers and dairy producers. He addressed several questions from participants on boosting productivity and enhancing profitability in the dairy business.
The convention also highlighted the achievements of successful women in the dairy sector. Participants such as Gayatribhen, Mittalben, and Meenaben, along with others from different parts of India, shared their personal journeys and inspired fellow entrepreneurs.
In the closing session, Sahakar Bharati’s national organizing secretary Sanjay Pachpor delivered the concluding address. He spoke about how cooperatives can expand business opportunities in the dairy sector through the development of value-added products and stronger community networks.
The convention ended on a positive note, with a collective resolve to strengthen the cooperative movement in India’s dairy industry and to continue empowering milk producers through innovation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
