The Ministry of Cooperation is organizing a joint meeting of Cooperative Ministers of different States at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The two-day event will be organized on 8th and 9th September 2022. On this occasion Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah would be the chief guest.

Talking to the Indian Cooperative, one of the top officials of the Ministry of Cooperation said, “It will be a unique meeting. The objective of the event is to identify obstacles coming in the development of respective state cooperative sectors in general and revitalizing PACCs in particular”.

“On the first day, the Union Home and Co-operative Minister will listen to respective state cooperative ministers and later on he will deliver his address. And on the second day, different state and Union Territories’ Secretaries will take part.

“The conference will provide a platform to formulate an implementable policy and planning framework through discussion and coordination among participants. It aims at covering not only the whole life cycle of Cooperatives, but also touching on all facets of their business and governance”, said the official.

The Union Minister of State for Cooperation B. L. Verma along with Cooperation Ministers and Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Registrars of Cooperatives and representatives from 36 State Governments and Union Territories will attend the Conference.

The PIB release on the event reads “Under the dynamic leadership of the Union Home and Cooperation Minister, Shri Amit Shah, the Cooperation Ministry is continuously working on giving a new impetus to the development of the Cooperative sector, strengthening it and making it a model of all-inclusive development.”

Some of the Policy matters likely to come up for discussion include National Cooperation Policy and National Cooperative Database

Among the new Proposed Schemes are PACS in every Panchayat, Export of Agro-based and other products, Promotion and Marketing of Organic Products and Expansion of Co-operatives to new areas.
