Probe ordered against Biscomaun; unfazed Chairman throws fish curry luncheon

Unfazed by the hanging FIR and the constitution of a probe committee against the working of Bihar’s marketing cooperative federation, Biscomaun, its Chairman Sunil Singh holds a fish curry lunch for his friends at its headquarters in Patna and dares the state govt to arrest him.

“Tell the police that I would be in my office at sharp 11 am and also tell that for that for the entire month of January I would be in Patna”, Singh mocked at the rumour doing rounds in the cooperative circle that he is absconding from Patna in the fear of being arrested.

Earlier, on a letter from the Central Registrar to Bihar Registrar of Cooperative Societies, the latter constituted a five member team to probe the Provident Fund Scam of about Rs 22 crore in Bihar Marketing Cooperative, Biscomaun which is headed by Sunil Kumar Singh.

The team has been directed to submit the probe report soon. The five members include Brinder Thakur, Shashi Sekhar Sinha, Sanjay Kumar, Subash Kumar and Kundan Lal.

It is said that the provident fund deducted was not paid in the employees accounts. Biscomaun Chairman and board members are supposed to be involved in the mismanaging of the PF.

Readers would recall that earlier the employees of Biscomaun had launched an agitation over the issue. They had also written a letter urging the labor Minister to probe the matter.

It is being reported that during 1988 to 2003, the Biscomaun employees were not getting their salary when the marketing cooperative was controlled by the state government.

Sources said the PF Commissioner had lodged an FIR against the Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Kumar Singh, Vice-Chairman Gopal Giri and Managing Director.

“Since 1985 to 2002, the Biscomaun was under Administrator’s rule; in which several top-notch IAS officials of the state of the time headed the cooperative federation; if the logic of the report were to be believed it would mean filing of FIRs against giants like R K Singh, Vyasji, Amitabh Verma and many others”. There are around 35 IAS officers in the list”, said Biscomaun Chairman earlier during this year in the wake of the PF issue hogging the media headlines.

Reducing the whole charge to nothing more than a political vendetta against himself Sunil Singh said they say that I paid money to Lalu Pradad Yadav. But have they got any proof, he asked.

They also have objection to my foreign trips but you would be surprised to know that I have never claimed any TA-DA from Bicomaun; go and check the records you will find the truth, he said to this correspondent. Being on the board of several national level co-op federations, it is they who foot my bills, he explained.
