No financial crunch, Gujarat’s Kheti Bank busy transforming itself

Many of the Agriculture and Land Development Banks (ARDBs) across the country are grappling with the financial crunch but Gujarat based Kheti Bank is busy transforming itself with the changing times.

Though it is said to be Kheti Bank, which means the bank fulfilling the financial needs of farmers, it is working on the lines of a big corporate office. The Banks office located at Ahmedabad is no different from a corporate office and is equipped with all the modern facilities.

During his tour to Ahmedabad, Indian Cooperative correspondent was surprised to see the sprawling headquarters of the bank and its modern facilities’.

The bank Chairman Dollarbhai Kotecha, who doubles as the Chairman of NAFCARD, himself took this correspondent to show around the newly renovated office. “As soon as I took charge as the Chairman of the bank, our first priority was to renovate the office for creating a positive environment in the bank and we have worked on this line”, said Kotecha.

He added, “We have spent around Rs 2 crore on the renovation of the head office of the bank. The doors of the office are fully automatic. A temple has been built in the office. A statue of Late Udaybhansinhji and the National flag have been installed in the bank premises. The new staff room has been made with the facility of a dedicated lunch room”.

“Meanwhile, the construction for the board room is going and will be completed in a couple of months. After the completion of renovation work at the head office, we are going to renovate the district offices of the bank and there is no shortage of fund”, Kotecha added.

It is worth mentioning that Gujarat’s Kheti Bank is on the growth path and earned a gross profit of Rs 106 crore as on 31st March 2023 and after making provisions the net profit remained to the tune of Rs 51.19 crore in the 2022-23 FY.

The Net NPA remains Zero. The bank has 17 district offices and 176 branches at the taluka level. It is said that the 148 buildings owned by the bank include the premises of 16 district offices and 132 branches.
