The National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL) inaugurated the state-of-the-art packaging facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant development in India’s organic agriculture sector. The event was addressed by Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, who highlighted the strategic importance of this modern facility in advancing the objectives of the ‘Bharat Organics’ brand and the larger cooperative movement.
The new plant is equipped with advanced technology to ensure high efficiency while upholding the highest standards of hygiene and product quality. It is primarily dedicated to packaging a diverse range of organic food products, with a current focus on pulses.
Dr Bhutani emphasized that the launch of this facility is a major step in NCOL’s journey to provide sustainable, certified organic food to consumers and improve market access for farmers engaged in organic practices. He stated that Bharat Organics is not just about healthy food but also about building a healthier nation.
Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, the Ministry of Cooperation is pursuing several initiatives to connect farmers producing organic goods to wider markets. According to Dr Bhutani, this packaging unit represents a crucial move towards scaling up operations and enhancing the availability of genuine organic products while ensuring fair pricing for the producers.
Currently, the Bharat Organics brand offers 21 certified organic products, including pulses, cereals, spices, and sweeteners. These are available through over 200 SAFAL outlets in Delhi NCR and are being rolled out across leading e-commerce and quick commerce platforms like Swiggy, Blinkit, BigBasket, Amazon, and Flipkart.
The products are also available at all NCCF and NAFED outlets, both of which are NCOL promoter members. Soon, Bharat Organics will also be stocked in all Reliance retail outlets, further expanding its reach.
Meenesh Shah, Chairman of NCOL, reiterated the organization’s commitment to ensuring premium prices for farmers while making organic food accessible and affordable to consumers. He stressed the importance NCOL places on authenticity, with every product batch undergoing mandatory testing for over 245 pesticide residues.
Vipul Mittal, Managing Director of NCOL, added that the product packaging reflects the International Year of Cooperatives 2025 and includes a QR code that allows consumers to access pesticide test reports for each batch, ensuring full transparency.
Manish Bandlish, Managing Director of Mother Dairy, affirmed the company’s commitment to promoting Bharat Organics across its retail network. He noted that for the past 50 years, Mother Dairy has stood for purity and trust in Delhi and will now help bring certified organic options to its wide customer base.
Established in 2023 by the Ministry of Cooperation, NCOL serves as a central organization for the aggregation, certification, branding, and marketing of organic products produced by India’s cooperative sector. It operates through a unified “Whole of Government” approach, aligned with the national mission of “Sahkar se Samriddhi” — prosperity through cooperation.
