NCCF: Bijender & Virendra are winners

nccf-finalIndian Cooperative was proved correct once again when Nafed former Chairman Bijender Singh was declared elected Chairman by consensus and another Singh, the former Chairman Virendra Singh as the vice-chairman of the apex consumer cooperative federation NCCF on Friday.

In its Thursday write-up Indian Cooperative -the only news portal not only in India but also in the world with the monthly traffic of 5 million hits predicted that the two Singhs are going to bag top slots.

However if the election was smooth for Bijender it was not so in the case of Virendra, the former Chairman. There are two govt nominees who are close to Ramvilas Paswan Ajay Kumar and Vijay Kumar. While the former is not a cooperator, the latter is the Chairman of a cooperative in Bihar.

Coming late the govt nominee Vijay Kumar said that he was a presidential candidate and since the Chairman has already been elected due to him being late for the meeting, he would console himself with the Vice-Chairmanship. This led to arguments and counterarguments which lasted close to 15-20 minutes.

As the obstinacy of govt nominee deepened in the meeting, the view emerged that the election of vice-chairman better be postponed for another three months thereby dashing the hopes of Virendra Singh who had played along with senior cooperators in the hope of getting the second important slot smoothly.

In case of election it was obvious that the govt nominee had no chance as along with elected Board members the representatives of NCUI and NAFED if not NCDC would have fallen for the choice of Chandra Pal Singh Yadav. At one point of time the name of Yash Pal also cropped up.

Later the elected cooperators felt that allowing government nominee in place of Virendra Singh may prove detrimental in long course of time and the latter emerged as the final choice.

Talking to India Cooperative later the newly elected Chairman Bijender Singh vowed to make the NCCF profitable within a year. “The new team would primarily focus on the financial soundness of NCCF and we would work for the benefits of both consumers and organization”, he added saying  I am too occupied with Assembly elections right now.

Newly elected Vice- Chairman Virendra Singh also echoed his words and said “NCCF has been sliding down for long and the process would be reversed sooner than later.”
