The National Centre for Cooperative Education (NCCE), a flagship initiative under the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), has officially commenced a pioneering training program aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge and skills essential for establishing and managing successful cooperative societies.

The “Formation of Cooperative Societies” training initiative, inaugurated by Mrs. Savitri Singh, Deputy Chief Executive of NCUI, commenced on January 29 and will continue until February 2, 2024.

The comprehensive program, strategically crafted to provide practical insights into cooperative business models, is set to empower a diverse group of participants, including freshers, students, youth, and cooperative trainers. The initiative seeks to foster collaboration, entrepreneurship, and a deeper understanding of cooperative principles among the nation’s youth.

Savitri, in her inaugural address, expressed enthusiasm about the active participation of the youth and highlighted the importance of empowering both youth and women through similar programs in the future. Smt Jeena Potsangham, a member of the Governing Council, shared her insights during the inauguration, emphasizing the value of the course and commending the NCCE for taking this crucial initiative.

A total of 67 participants from 11 states, including Assam, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Meghalaya, are part of the program. The participants comprise freshers, new appointees, and students from recognized universities, all eager to gain valuable insights into cooperative operations.

The NCCE, with a mission to empower individuals with the skills necessary for the successful establishment and operation of cooperative societies, plays a pivotal role in promoting collaboration and entrepreneurship within the cooperative sector, claims a press release from the NCUI.

The training sessions covered a range of topics, including the philosophy of cooperatives, the national cooperative movement in India, new cooperative policies, model bylaws, youth-led innovations in cooperative sustainability, and new initiatives in the cooperative movement. The sessions were led by esteemed experts such as Shri Rajeev Sharma, Director, NCUI; Dr. Sagar Wadkar, Advisor on cooperative movement; and Shri Gopal Ganesh from ICA-AP.

The day concluded with a group photo featuring all participants. Dileep Sanghani, President of NCUI; Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, Chairman of KRIBHCO; Dr. Bijender Singh, Vice President of NCUI and Chairman of NAFED; and Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, Chief Executive of NCUI, interacted with the participants, encouraging them to embark on their careers in the light of cooperatives. The event marked a significant step forward in nurturing the future leaders of the cooperative sector.
