In a significant step towards strengthening India’s cooperative movement, the Ministry of Cooperation is hosting a high-level National Conclave on “Implementation Pathways for the National Cooperation Policy 2025” today, March 30, 2026, at Vigyan Bhawan.
The conclave follows the unveiling of the National Cooperation Policy 2025 by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on July 24, 2025. The event will be inaugurated by Minister of State for Cooperation Krishan Pal Gurjar, bringing together key stakeholders from across the cooperative ecosystem.
The gathering will see participation from national and state cooperative unions, registrars of cooperative societies, senior officials from institutions such as Reserve Bank of India, NABARD, NDDB, and National Cooperative Development Corporation, along with representatives from various ministries and cooperative societies.
A key highlight of the conclave will be expert lectures by eminent personalities including S Mahendra Dev, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, who will speak on strategies to triple the cooperative sector’s contribution to the economy.
Satish Marathe will address the development of a self-sustainable cooperative business ecosystem, while Pramod Kumar Meherda will focus on data-driven decision-making and the cooperative stack.
The post-lunch session will feature breakout discussions on six critical themes, including digital public infrastructure, PACS as growth engines, member education, youth and women participation, organic product markets, and cooperative credit and banking. An open house session will also deliberate on the Model State Cooperative Act and ease of doing business in the sector.
The conclave will conclude with group presentations and a valedictory session chaired by the Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, setting the stage for actionable reforms and a forward-looking roadmap for India’s cooperative sector.
