The political interference always weakens the cooperative movement, said Uttarakhand Minister Navprabhat while addressing the 10th Annual General Meeting of Uttarakhand State Cooperative Union (UCF) recently in Dehradun.

Praising the UCF’s efforts, he said the cooperative body is playing an important role in strengthening the rural economy. But there are many other fields that also need to be strengthened with the help of cooperatives, Minister added.

The UCF Chairman Pramod Kumar Singh said, formed in July 2002 with a share capital of Rs 12,000 the UCF in the last fiscal 2015-16 earned a net profit of Rs 7 crore and announced 20 percent dividend to its member societies.

Elaborating on the future plans, he said the UCF will soon setup a Homeopathic Medicine Plant in Haridwar. The cooperative is also buying farmers’ produce at good price, he said.

The UCF, Vice Chairman, Manvendra Singh, Managing Director, A.K.Sharma, Satish Chandra Purohit, Dehradhun District Cooperative Bank chairman Dr K S Rana, Udhamsingh Nagar District Cooperative Bank chairman Subash Behar and others were present on the occasion.

The UCF is supplying Ayurvedic medicine to the government hospitals all over India as it has its own manufacturing drug units namely Cooperative drug factory in Ranikhet (Almora) and Uttarakhand Medicines & Pharmaceuticals in Halduchaur, Haldwani.
