Sahakar Bharati’s two-day national conference on Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) concluded successfully on Saturday in Hubli, Karnataka.
The event, graced by the presence of Union Minister of State for Cooperation BL Verma, witnessed participation from over 4,000 representatives from PACS and other cooperatives across Karnataka.
Key figures such as Sahakar Bharati National President DN Thakur, General Secretary Uday Joshi, Organizing Secretary Sanjay Pachpor, Ramesh Vaidya, MP Annasaheb Jolle, and others marked their attendance.
During his address, Minister Verma highlighted the significant strides taken under the leadership of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah to revitalize and empower PACS. He emphasized the ongoing computerization efforts of PACS with a budget of Rs 2516 crore and the expanded scope for diversification into various businesses.
Verma announced the authorization for PACS to establish Jan Aushadhi Centers, Petrol Pumps, and offer Common Service Center (CSC) services to farmers in rural areas, applauding these initiatives as pivotal for rural development.
The minister commended Sahakar Bharati for its relentless efforts in fortifying the cooperative movement’s grassroots.
The conference featured several sessions addressing pertinent issues, with experts sharing insights and strategies to enhance the functioning and impact of PACS.
The gathering concluded with remarks from Central Minister Verma, Member of Parliament Annasaheb Jolle, and other cooperative leaders, highlighting the collaborative spirit and commitment towards advancing the cooperative sector for the welfare of farmers and rural communities.
