The newly appointed Cooperation Minister in the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar Mr Alok Mehta came calling to Biscomaun headquarters on Wednesday in Patna. Top cooperators of the state led by Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Kumar Singh were there to welcome him.
“We had not called PACS Chairmen for the occasion but majority of Chairmen of central co-operative banks were there to felicitate the Minister”, said Sunil on phone to Indian Cooperative. Barring three chairmen who could not make it on account of ill-health, 19 chairmen of central co-operative banks had assembled on the occasion. The state has 22 central co-op banks in total.
Ramesh Chaubey the Chairman of Bihar State Co-operative Bank led the pack while others such as Gopal Giri and Directors on Biscoamun Board could been seen felicitating the Minister. Even Biscomaun which has a majestic building at the western end of famed Gandhi Maidan had been doled up for the occasion.
“But most important was the Minister’s encouraging words for the cooperative movement that have gladdened our hearts”, said Sunil. Alok Mehat has reportedly said that Biscomaun is not only pride of cooperatives but also of the state.
Mehta has promised to offer support required to make the marketing cooperative federation a success. “Whatever the state govt could do, it would do to make Biscomaun regain its lost pride”, Mehta has reportedly promised.
It was after several years that Biscomaun is breathing normal along with its Chairman Sunil Singh. In the past Sunil had been at loggerhead with the state government almost on constant basis. But the resurrection of Lalu Yadav electoral fortune has infused Biscoamun with hope and optimism. Sunil is a known Lalu follower.
Being on the right side of the govt augurs well for the cooperative movement, commented one of the cooperators from the state.
