Mela of co-op AGMs in Gujarat

At the suggestion of senior cooperator Dileep Singhani more than ten cooperative societies held their AGMs together in the Amreli district of Gujarat recently. The AGMs which saw unprecedented turnout passed off smoothly.

The Governor of Gujarat Shree O P Kohli was the Chief Guest. The idea was to cut the cost as there are common delegates in several societies. Union State Ministers Purushottam Rupala and Manshukhbhai Mandviyaji were also present on the occasion.

Talking to Indian Cooperative Sanghani said usually each society has to bear the travel and food costs for the AGM. But holding AGMs at the same time and at the same venue saves money for each of them.

”I started it 4-5 years ago and it has been a great hit bringing relief not only to co-op societies but also to members who save time, besides other things”, Sanghani underlined. Sanghani has filled up his FB walls with several photographs of huge pandals containing seas of humanity.

The participants were drawn from several cooperative sectors such as district central co-op bank, dairy co-op, marketing co-op, Gujarat Mahila Credit co-op and other cooperative institutions.
