Leaders make a beeline to Biscomaun Chairman’s village

Dumari Bujurg in Sonepur district of Bihar saw who is who of state and national politics descending on the sleepy village. The occasion was Terehnvi (Thirteenth day) of Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Singh’s mother’s last rites.

The assembly of leaders has proved once again that the cooperative politics is different from electoral politics in that it could never be devoid of emotions. Leaders cutting across party lines came to condole with Sunil Singh who is an avowed follower of Lalu Prasad Yadav.

On Monday Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh broke himself free of busy schedule to be with the grieving family. He spent close to an hour chatting with the Chairman and his family.

On Sunday it was RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s turn. He came with a team of party men to be with the Biscomaun Chairman in this hour of grief. The media has always labelled Mr Singh as Lalu’s protégé.

An emotional Chairman said to Indian Cooperative” I am touched by peoples’ response; though I cannot get my mother back, support of friends and families has lessened my grief.”

Earlier, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union State Minister Giriraj Singh who was once upon a time an adversary of Sunil Singh- also made it to Dumri Burj. ”Of the 250 MLAs, about 200 of them came to console me; what more do I want from life”, shared Sunil with Indian Cooperative.

Readers would recall that the mother of Mr Sunil Singh, Chairman of Biscomaun and a high-profile cooperative leader from Bihar- passed away last to last week. Several cooperators thronged his residence to have the last darshan of the departed soul. Sunil Singh’s mother Chanda Devi was aged 68 and her last rites were carried out at Dumri Ghat in Sonepur.
