Kribhco: Chandra Pal returns after 5 years

kribhoc election picsA winning streak for Chandra Pal Singh has continued when on Thursday he was again declared elected Chairman of KRIBHCO- the second largest fertilizer cooperative after IFFCO. The NCUI headquarters at August Kranti Marg in Delhi witnessed the unprecedented presence of his supporters as even those not connected to Kribhco came there to greet the new Chairman.

Dr Bijender Singh and Dr Sunil Kumar Singh proposed the name of Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav and it was passed unanimously.

Indian Cooperative had earlier reported in these columns that nothing would stop Chandra Pal from bagging the top post. A large number of delegates and directors -Indian Cooperative talked to said they would support him this time.

V R Patel, a diehard cooperator from Gujarat and the outgoing Chairman was elected Vice-Chairman of the new Board. Sudhakar Chaudhary who was pitted against K N Rajjana also romped home securing a whopping 102 votes out of 114 votes polled dealing the latter a humiliating defeat. Rajjana is an MLA from Karnataka.

Dr Bijender Singh, now Chairman of NCCF,

Dr Sunil Kumar Singh, Chairman of Biscomaun,

Bhanwar Singh Sekhawat from Madhya Pradesh,

Shailja Devi Nikam from Jalgaon and

Paresh Patel from Gujarat

The election took place after the Special General Meeting of the newly elected delegates in the NCUI Auditorium in which the names of successful directors were announced. Delegates from far-flung areas had come to witness the transition of power from the hand of V R Patel to Chandra Pal.

Soon after the declaration of his name Chandra Pal was drowned with garlands which nearly choked him. An emotional Yadav thanked one and all profusely.

Later talking to Indian Cooperative Dr Yadav said that it is very strong team and strengthening the cooperative behemoth Kribhco would be his first propriety. Expansion, diversification and use of latest techniques would be our major areas of focus, Yadav added.

Earlier, the scrutiny of nominations was done on Monday and the list of valid nominations after the withdrawals was put up in the evening showing contest just for one seat – Sudhakar pitted against Rajjana. Dr M L Khurana, MD of Housing Cooperative Federation was the Election Officer and Mr VRS Prasad the Additional MD of Kribhco assisted him.
