On the appeal of NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, Ahmednagar based Karmaveer Shankarrao Kale Cooperative Sugar Factory has announced a plan to setup an oxygen plant in the factory premises and the plant will be operational in three weeks.
The factory has already placed an order for buying the raw material and the estimated cost of the project is about 50 lakhs. “We will establish this oxygen plant in our factory premises at Kopargaon, Ahmednagar and hoping that in the span of a few days it will be fully operational. . We will provide the oxygen free of cost”, said Sunil Kolhe, General Manager of the Sugar Factory.
The sugar factory has also established a Covid-care centre with the support of Mahatna Gandhi District Exhibition Charitable Trust. The patients are getting the treatment free of cost.
Besides, the factory Chairman and MLA from Kopargaon Constituency Ashutosh Kale has met Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar in Mumbai on Wednesday and informed him about the work being undertaken by the Sugar cooperative in the interest of the community.
The sugar factory also contributed 13 Oxygen Concentrator worth of Rs 11 lakh to the Covid-care centre established by the sugar cooperative at Mahatma Gandhi District Exhibition Charitable Trust.
Soon after the the meeting, Kale tweeted, ” Today met Padma Vibhushan Sharad Pawarji and informed him about the measures taken for the elimination of corona in Kopargaon and said that as per the appeal made by NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, Karmaveer Shankarrao Kale Sugar Factory has started the process for setting up an oxygen production project in Kale Sahakari Sugar Factory.
“Pawar Saheb promised to give all help and also urged to take care while taking care of the citizens”, he tweeted.
The Kopargaon Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd ,Gautamnagar was renamed as ‘ Karmaveer Shankarrao Kale Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd.’ in 2013.
The present crushing capacity of our sugar factory is 4000 MT. per day.
The Co-operative Societies Act was enacted in India in 1904 with a limited objective to provide cheap credit to the farmers and save them from exploitation of money lenders. It was only in the early 1930’s that the co-operative movement penetrated into the sugar sector.
