IFFCO’s Jordan project starts production

JIFCO-IFFCO IFFCO Managing Director Dr US Awasthi is a happy man when he returns home Tuesday morning from Jordan. The cooperative giant’s mega project in Jordan has gone operational bringing smiles on the face of millions of farmers.

IFFCO and Jordan Phosphates Mines Company Ltd (JPMC) had formed a limited liability Joint Venture Company namely Jordan India Fertilizer Company (JIFCO) on 6 March 2008 in Amman. On the first December i.e Monday the plant has gone operational. The project is worth $860 million.

The partner of IFFCO Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) owns and operates a large number of phosphate mines in Jordan. Dr Awasthi had gone to Jordan to attend the Board meeting of JIFCO and eat cake on the successful commissioning of the project.

A social media enthusiast and Head of IFFCO’s Public Relation Harshendra Verdhan lost no time in informing the world of the latest IFFCO achievement through Face book and Twitter. He tweeted” Wow; just got a great News from @drusawasthi that #JIFCO capitalises its #PhosAcid project at $860 Million. Commercial production from 1/12.”

Top cooperative officials of IFFCO Indian Cooperative talked to were pleased with themselves on this success. They remembered that soon after the disappointment with Egyptian govt, Jordan project was launched and it is heartening to see it fructifying.
