IFFCO’s Aditya wins ICA seat by huge margin

adtiya yadavIFFCO created history winning the seat on the ICA Board with a huge margin on Sunday thereby reclaiming its lost glory after nearly four years.

A visibly upbeat IFFCO MD lost no time and tweeted “I am very happy #IFFCO candidate #Aditya Yadav has won election of ICA”

ICA was no less prompt in its communication. In a mail sent to Indian Cooperative at the Indian time 4.40 am on Monday morning, ICA’s Communications Director Jan Schiettecatte informed “ Mr. Aditya Yadav from the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Co-operative Ltd. (IFFCO) has been elected by the International Co-operative Alliance’s Meeting of Members following a vote yesterday evening. The seat was vacated earlier this year, causing an election.”

The ICA seat had become sort of jinxed with IFFCO’s attempts always getting doomed to failure. IFFCO tried first Gowda, then Patel and finally Aditya Yadav. The choice of young and presentable Aditya by IFFCO MD is said to have carried the day. While Aditya’s political clout back home ensured that he will have everybody’s support, his convent education and chiseled manners made him acceptable to foreign voters too, say people keeping close tabs on the developments.

The margin of victory suggested that IFFCO was taking it seriously this time. According to ICA Mr. Yadav gained 136 votes with the next candidate receiving 72. It meant there was a wave in favour of Aditya as he nearly polled double the votes, polled by the runner up.

Striking a humble pose, Aditya said after the announcement of the result ‘’ I am truly delighted and honoured to have been chosen by my colleagues to serve on the Alliance’s Board. This is an exciting time for the co-operative movement and the Alliance is working hard to drive the co-operative model.home. I am lookng forward to the future and helping the Alliance in its goal of uniting, representing and serving co-operatives worldwide.”
