IFFCO Sahitya Samman to be conferred on Jayanandan today

Jayanandan, recipient of the Shri Lal Shukla Smriti IFFCO Sahitya Samman will be felicitated in a glittering function to be organized at Ravindra Bhawan, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand on the coming Tuesday.

Sharing details through social media, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi informed this on his twitter wall.

Shri Jayanandan was born on 26 February 1956 in a middle-class family in Milki village of Nawada district of Bihar. So far, more than two dozen of his books have been published in which ‘Shramev Jayate’, ‘Aisi Nagariya Mein Kehi Vidhi Rehna’, ‘Sultanate ko Suno Gaon Walo’, ‘Disruption’, ‘Chaudharhat’, and ‘Milkyat ki Vaagdor’ are prominent.

He has also penned novels like ‘Rahmat Ki Baarish’ and ‘Sunnata Bhang’, ‘The Camel of the World Market’, ‘Ek Alone Gandhiji’, ‘Kasturi Pecho Vats’, ‘Dal Nahi Galegi Ab’, ‘Ghar Phoonk Tamasha’, ‘Drying Source’, ‘Guar’, ‘Village ki sobs’, ‘Bhitraghat’, ‘My favorite stories’, ‘My favorite stories’, ‘Seraj Band Baaja’, ‘Compiled Stories’, Selected Stories’, ‘Godpochna’, ‘Select Stories’ Aadi story collections are prominent.

Jayanandan had been selected by a six-member selection committee headed by Mrs. Chitra Mudgal, informed IFFCO, a leading cooperative organization in the fertilizer sector.

Jayanandan has also written plays and essays. He has been honoured by many literary and cultural institutions including the Department of Official Language, Government of Bihar.

This award, started in the year 2011 in the memory of Sreelal Shukla, a fiction writer, is given every year to a Hindi writer whose works mainly depict rural and agricultural life.

Srilal Shukla was a versatile writer who portrayed the life of rural as well as semi-urban areas in its totality and made a scathing attack on the exploitative system prevailing in the countryside. His book Rag Darbari remains a sensation till date.

The respected litterateur is presented with a memento, a citation and a cheque for an amount of Rs 11 lakh. The award will be conferred on Shri Jayanandan on January 31, 2023.

Earlier this award has been given to Vidyasagar Nautiyal, Shekhar Joshi, Sanjeev, Mithileshwar, Ashtabhuja Shukla, Kamalakant Tripathi, Ramdev Dhurandhar, Ramdhari Singh Diwakar, Mahesh Katare, Ranendra and Shivmurthy.
