Participating in a function organized by Chhattisgarh Sahakar Bharti the Union Minister of Agriculture and Co operation Radha Mohan Singh said agriculture and cooperation complement each other, if agriculture is karma then cooperation is dharma.
In this function, organized at Shaheed Smarak Bhawan, Raipur, he said that significant importance has been given to religion and karma in Indian culture.
A buoyed up Sahakar Bharati Chief Jyotindra Mehta wrote on his FB wall” Today central Minister Agriculture and co operation Radhamohanji inaugurated co operative training centre of Sahakar Bharati in Raipur.”
Lauding the role of furthering the cause of cooperative movement in the state the Minister said Chhattisgarh displays a unique combination of agriculture and cooperation. Here, Paddy is purchased through PACS at Minimum Support Price (MSP) to financially benefit the farmers. Cooperation has significant contribution in this work of Government.
Agriculture Minister said that Government has taken many steps to help the farmers. Loan facility at low interest rates is being provided to farmer so that he can buy seeds, manure, etc. yet he agreed that this was not sufficient. In reality, this assistance does not reach the farmer. He said that the country cannot progress until and unless the farmer is poor and uneducated. The farmer should be helped in every possible way to make him educated and self-dependent.
Earlier Singh addressed people on the 8th convocation ceremony of Indira Gandhi Agriculture University, Raipur (Chhattisgarh) and Chhattisgarh Cooperation Committee. He also inaugurated 21st Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Chhattisgarh. More Krishi Vigyan Kendras will be established soon in the remaining 6 districts, he promised.
Speaking on the occasion Radha Mohan Singh said that farming methods are fast changing with the development of new technology. To utilize this technology, it is important to strengthen agriculture education.
Minister congratulated the graduating students and appreciated the achievements of the University and its students in the field of agriculture education. Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Raman Singh, Governor & Chancellor of the University, Balram Das Tondon and State Agriculture and Water Resources Minister, Brijmohan Aggarwal were also present in the function.
