ICA election: Chandra Pal paves way for Patel

Now it is official. The victory of IFFCO candidate N P Patel at ICA elections received a major boost on Tuesday when NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh Yadav decided not to contest.

In a rare show of cooperative solidarity Mr Yadav bowed out of the race and plunged into supporting IFFCO candidate.
Elevating Mr Patel’s fight to that of India Mr Yadav shot a letter to ICA in which he named Patel and said that he (Mr Patel) represents Indian cooperative movement.

The mail sent to ICA by NCUI President read “NCUI is pleased to nominate Mr N P Patel, Chairman IFFCO on behalf of Indian Cooperative Movement. Accordingly, his nomination form is being sent herewith.”

Readers would recall that Indian Cooperative had reported about the impending consensus in the story titled “Consensus on horizon”.

Chandra Pal Singh stood firm on his words and sacrificed his candidature for a principle “one name from India” as he told Indian Cooperative last week. The last day of nomination ended yesterday that is 4th September.

Talking to Indian Cooperative an effusive IFFCO Director G N Saxena thanked NCUI President profusely. “he was simply magnanimous in accommodating IFFCO candidate. Chandra Palji has proved that he is a true cooperator” Saxena said.

All cooperators felt relieved as they had been spared the pain of having to choose between IFFCO and NCUI. Some of them had confided their predicament to Indian Cooperative earlier.
