Gandhi’s contribution to the idea of cooperation remembered

Co-operators from across the states have paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 151st Birth anniversary and held him as the icon of cooperation and brotherhood.

From NCUI President to IFFCO MD, from ICA AP to Bangalore based KSSFCL -all have vowed to follow Gandhian principles in the cooperative sector.

NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh Yadav celebrated Gandhi Jayanti by protesting against the deteriorating law and order in UP at the feet of Gandhi’s statue in Jhansi.

Calling Gandhi as an apostle of peace and nonviolence IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi got Sarees distributed to more than 350 women in the village Sathani Bala Khera, Unnao. Awasthi exhorted all to follow Gandhi’s spirit of cooperation to make Indian villages self-dependent.

ICA Asia and Pacific captured the Gandhian idea of cooperation very well as it tweeted “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” – said Mahatma Gandhi #coops, the service-driven and people-centred organizations, are also inspired by #Gandhi’s teachings.

“Today the Jayanthi of Mahatma Gandhi and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri were celebrated at KSSFCL, Head office and Division office” read a mail from the co-op body. Sharanagouda G Patil, The MD of KSSFCL said that there is much to learn from the life of Mahatma Gandhi and his lifestyle should be the guiding principle for all us.

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute organized a week-long program from 26th September to 2nd October to commemorate the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. The seven-day long program started with a cleanliness drive.

On the 2nd day of the program, Walkathon was organized and covered a distance of 3.5 km before reaching the same point with 100 participants. Dr. A.K Singh, Director, ICAR-IARI along with Joint Directors completed the walkathon and motivated the participants.

Gandhi and Shastri Jayanti were celebrated with simplicity at the headquarters of Udhamsingh Nagar District Co-operative Bank. Dinesh Chandra Shukla garlanded the statue of Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Agriculture Minister tweeted his salutations to the Father of nation and remembered his contributions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tweeted “We bow to beloved Bapu on Gandhi Jayanti. There is much to learn from his life and noble thoughts. May Bapu’s ideals keep guiding us in creating a prosperous and compassionate India!”
