At the 60th Annual Seminar of the Fertilizer Association of India (FAI), two distinguished professionals, Dr. Mangla Rai and Dr. Ashok Gulati, were awarded the prestigious U.S. Awasthi IFFCO Lifetime Achievement Awards for 2023-24.
The awards recognize their exceptional contributions to agriculture and the fertilizer industry. Dr. Mangla Rai received the honor for his lifetime dedication to agricultural research and development, while Dr. Ashok Gulati was celebrated for his unparalleled achievements in the fertilizer industry.
The awards were presented by the Minister of State for Chemicals & Fertilizers, Ms. Anupriya S. Patel, during the seminar at Hotel Andaz, New Delhi. Each award comprises INR 2.5 million, a gold medallion, and a citation.
Expressing his gratitude on social media, IFFCO Managing Director Dr. U.S. Awasthi wrote, “It was a pleasure to honour Dr. Ashok Gulati and Dr. Mangla Rai for their exceptional contributions to promoting the fertilizer industry and agricultural research in India.” Both awardees also thanked IFFCO and its leadership for the recognition, highlighting the organization’s unwavering support for innovation in the sector.
Instituted in 2017, the U.S. Awasthi IFFCO Lifetime Achievement Awards celebrate individuals who have made groundbreaking advancements in agriculture and fertilizers, furthering sustainable growth and development.
The FAI Annual Seminar, themed “Sustainable Fertilizer and Agriculture,” runs from December 4th to 6th, attracting over 1,400 participants, including policymakers, industry leaders, and global stakeholders.
During her inaugural address, Ms. Anupriya Patel underscored the importance of sustainability in agriculture,
efficient fertilizer use, and adopting advanced technologies. “Sustainability and innovation are cornerstones for the future of Indian agriculture,” she remarked.
A special video message from Union Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda echoed the event’s goals, emphasizing collaboration and sustainability to meet India’s long-term agricultural objectives. FAI Chairman Suresh Krishnan highlighted strides made in reducing carbon footprints and improving energy efficiency within the fertilizer sector.
The seminar features an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge innovations from 52 exhibitors, fostering collaboration and sharing solutions for sustainable agriculture. Through insightful sessions and discussions, the event aims to shape India’s path toward a greener and more self-sufficient agricultural future.
