A tree plantation program was successfully conducted at Keshav Udyan, Sector 24, Rohini, as part of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025. The event was jointly organized by the Delhi State Cooperative Department, United Thrift and Credit Cooperative Societies Federation of Delhi Limited, Sahakar Bharati Delhi Pradesh, and Jodav Environmental Activity.

The event was graced by Delhi’s Cabinet Minister for Social Welfare and Cooperation, Shri Ravindra Indraj, along with IAS officer Anil Kumar Singh, Registrar of the Cooperative Department, Special Registrar Shri Lekhraj, Deputy Registrar Shri Pradeep Kumar, National Vice President of Sahakar Bharati and Chairman of Credit Society Federation Shri Sunil Gupta, Regional Organization Head Shri Vivekanand Patra, Delhi Organization Head Prof. Balwan Gautam, and several other prominent cooperative leaders and environmentalists.

The program began with a mesmerizing Saraswati Vandana and welcome song by visually impaired girls, setting a soulful tone for the event. In his address, Minister Indraj emphasized the crucial role of cooperative institutions in Delhi’s development.

He announced plans to establish stores in over 2,000 housing societies across the city, where self-help groups (SHGs) run by women will be able to sell their products. This initiative aims to empower underprivileged women financially, with cooperative banks extending financial assistance.

Furthermore, the Minister stressed the role of cooperative institutions in combating pollution and promoting a cleaner environment. He actively participated in tree plantation activities, reinforcing the commitment to a greener Delhi.

Sahakar Bharati’s National Vice President, Shri Sunil Gupta, highlighted that 2025 is being celebrated as the International Year of Cooperatives, emphasizing the theme, “Cooperatives for a Better World.” The objective of this initiative is to promote cooperative institutions globally and address essential needs through cooperative efforts.

Delhi Cooperative Registrar Shri A.K. Singh also addressed the gathering, stating that the coming years will witness significant transformations in Delhi’s cooperative movement. Inspired by the Central Cooperative Ministry, new initiatives will be implemented to strengthen the cooperative sector in the capital.

The event successfully underscored the importance of cooperative institutions in economic development and environmental sustainability, paving the way for a more prosperous and sustainable Delhi.
