Uttarakhand Cooperative Minister Dhan Singh Rawat held a meeting of Chairmen associated with State Cooperative Banks and District Central Cooperative Banks at the legislative assembly meeting hall, Dehradun and discussed the issues pertaining to the cooperative sector.
The Minister, among other things, talked about the merger of DCCBs with StCB as per the RBI guidelines issued recently. The two-tier structure will be implemented only if it is in the interest of the state and farmers. We are studying the RBI guidelines”, said the Co-op Minister.
Meanwhile, talking to Indian Cooperative, the majority of DCCBs Chairmen expressed that they were against the two-tier structure and felt its implementation would have a negative impact on the sector.
Besides, it was decided that the recruitment of 380 vacant posts for category 3 and 4 will be filled and exams will be conducted by IBPS. The Minister asked cooperative banks’ representatives to give the list of vacant posts to the State Co-operative Banks.
The minister also wanted completion of the process of installation of Data Centres, so that the State Chief Minister could inaugurate it by 15th July. If cooperative banks have to compete with nationalized banks, then they have to give advanced facilities to their customers, stressed the Minister.
The minister also lauded the efforts of banks for doing satisfactory work in the recovery of NPAs and said it is good to see all banks are running into profit.
State Cooperative Bank Chairman Dan Singh Rawat, Dehradun DCB Chairman Amit Shah, Tehri DCCB Subhash Ramola, Kotdwar DCB (Pauri Garhwal) Narendra Singh Rawat, Uttarkashi DCCB Vikram Singh Rawat, Haridwar DCCB Pradeep Chaudhary, Udhamsingh Nagar DCCB acting Chairman Yogendra Rawat, Nainital DCCB Chairman Rajendra Singh Negi, MD, State Cooperative Bank Ira Upreti and others were present in the meeting.
It is worth mentioning here that last year a three members committee was constituted for the appointment of professional Managing Director at Uttarakhand State Cooperative Bank, but failed to take call on the matter over a period of one year.
The cooperative department appointed one of the officials as the MD in the bank, who has no banking knowledge, quipped one of the co-operators.
