Cooperators join the nation in celebrating Women’s Day

Cooperatives across the country celebrated International Women’s Day with full gusto and enthusiasm. Scores of programs, workshops, seminars, etc were organized by many cooperative institutions in their respective states.

If the apex body of cooperatives-NCUI organized a mega function at its headquarters in Delhi, which witnessed a huge crowd of women then Gujarat State Cooperative Union under the Chairmanship of G H Amin celebrated the day with women cooperators including Vamnicom Director Hema Yadav.

Veteran cooperators took to social media to extend the best wishes of International Women’s Day. IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi wrote, “My Best Wishes of International Womens Day to everyone. The women are strength & inspiration. I salute our Women In Agriculture Daughters Of The Soil who grow food for the world silently. We need to empower women to make a better Society. #IWD2022 #IWD #International Womens Day”.

Nafed Chairman Bijendra Singh also extended his greetings on the occasion and said women are playing an important role in national development. Co-ops are also contributing a lot for strengthening Women by creating employment opportunities, he said during the function organized by NCUI.

ICA-AP Regional Director Balu Iyer wrote, “Happy #InternationalWomensDay! @ICAAPAC @singhsimren celebrated the day with the Philippines Cooperative Center and its members. Pledge to work on 4Rs – RECOGNIZE role played by women; RECKON with and address issues women face; RECOMMEND actions to take, and help REALIZE their dreams!”

The news of celebrations from different parts of the state also poured in at the desk of Indian Cooperative. Many PACs of the country also participated to mark the celebrations on the occasion. In Rajasthan, Barmer-based Dhora Dharti Mahila Rajivika Sarvageen Vikas Co-operative Society organized a function at its premises and felicitated women.

In Bihar, BJP leader Nitin Nabin honored the women for doing praiseworthy work in different fields in a program organized by Nayi Disha Nari Shakti Mahila Swavalambi Cooperative Society located in Phulwari Sharif. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, women were honored by the Radhika Central Co-Operative Bank, Madhubani.

Similarly, in Madhya Pradesh, women of the villages were honored by the Cooperative Milk Society Malakhedi. The Shivpuri District Unit of Sahakar Bharati organized an event and pledged to work extensively against the evils prevailing in society.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted “From financial inclusion to social security, quality healthcare to housing, education to entrepreneurship, many efforts have been made to put our Nari Shakti at the forefront of India’s development journey. These efforts will continue with even greater vigour in the coming times.” Others to greet women on the occasion included President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.

There are countless unknown women cooperators who are working quietly in backwaters for families and society. Indian Cooperative wishes all of them on International Women’s Day.
