Union Cooperation Ministry Secretary Gyanesh Kumar retired from the services on Wednesday, receiving a grand farewell in the presence of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.
A farewell party was organized at the headquarters of Union Ministry of Cooperation at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan in Delhi. The event was attended by Union Minister of State for Cooperation BL Verma, Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies Vijay Kumar, Additional Secretary Pankaj Bansal, Nabard Chairman Shaji KV and other senior officials of the ministry.
Besides, Chairmen and MDs of several national level cooperative federations were present on this occasion. They were IFFCO Chairman Dileepbhai Sanghani, MD Dr U S Awasthi, Kribhco MD Rajan Chowdhry, Nafscob Chairman K Ravinder Rao, National Sugar Federation Chairman Jaiprakash Dandegaonkar, NCUI CE Sudhir Mahajan, Nafcard MD K K Ravindran and others.
On this occasion, Kumar’s family members and his friends were also present. It was a warm send off given by his colleagues who appreciated his work and services throughout his tenure in the Ministry of Cooperation.
Many said, the Union Ministry of Cooperation has surely lost a hard working and honest officer. The cooperators extended good wishes to Kumar and prayed for his excellent post retirement life.
Kumar, who always kept a low profile and met people only when he needed to, is known for his reticence and composure.
Kumar is also credited with initiating several new initiatives in his tenure and, most of all, he lived up to the expectations of his Boss, Amit Shah, a tough task master, say many officials of the ministry on condition of anonymity.
He has been credited with introducing new things in strengthening the cooperative movement of the country. Kumar, a 1988-batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre, was the secretariat the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
