Gujarat State Cooperative Union organized a “Young Women Cooperative Seminar” with the theme “Self – Reliance through the Cooperation” for the young female students studying in colleges of Gujarat on 26th September 2022 in Ahmedabad.

This seminar was presided over by G H Amin, an eminent cooperative leader and Chairman of Gujarat State Cooperative Union. Nearly 800 female students of 22 colleges of the State participated in the seminar, informs a press release.

Dr M N Patel, Vice Chancellor of Parul University inaugurated the seminar. In his opening remarks he emphasized the importance of the cooperative sector in the context of women empowerment and gender equality. He cited the example of Amin who has adopted cooperative activities as his life mission and has gained international recognition for his contributions to the cooperative sector. Young women could achieve a great deal in the cooperative sector as well, Patel emphasized.

In his presidential remarks, Amin stated that the college days are for making careers of life. There is always the challenge of what to do after obtaining degrees. Not all young women get jobs, under the circumstances young women should create employment by joining cooperative activities.

Amin said co-operative activities are going in full swing in about 118 countries of the world. This is a big sector and a platform for the generation of large-scale employment.

Recalling the slogan of “Prosperity through Cooperation” given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amin stated that cooperatives make invaluable contributions in the economic development of the country.

The roots of the Indian cooperative movement lie in agriculture and other allied fields. It plays an important and vital role in the social and economic development of the nation. The finance, manufacturing, processing, marketing, inputs, distribution, housing, sugar, dairy and garment and other various fields of economy generate employment for the young people by making them Aatmanirbhar i.e Self Reliant.

The Cooperative Model has helped in the capacity building and brand building as well as ensuring contributions of those involved in cooperative activities of Gujarat and the nation, Amin said emphasizing cooperative activities make you owners and employers. He called upon young female students to join cooperative societies and improve their economic situation.

A booklet titled “Sahakare Svnirbharta” (Self Reliance through cooperation) for ” Young Women Cooperative was released on this occasion. Chief Guest of the Seminar Bipinbhai Patel, the Convener and Coordinator of Cooperative Cell, NCUI released the book. He welcomed the creation of a separate ministry of cooperation and admired Amit Shah as a great cooperator.
