In a significant gesture of patriotism and solidarity, the Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative Ltd. (CAMPCO) has contributed Rs 5 crore to the National Defence Fund (NDF).
This donation underscores farmers’ cooperative CAMPCO’s unwavering commitment to national security and support for India’s armed forces, especially amidst escalating security concerns and heightened border vigilance.
CAMPCO President A. Kishore Kumar Kodgi emphasized the organization’s longstanding dedication to national service and humanitarian efforts. He stated, “CAMPCO has always stood at the forefront of national service and humanitarian contributions.
“In the past too, we have extended financial support to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund during times of natural disasters and national emergencies. At this crucial juncture, when our Armed Forces are bravely defending the country against terrorism and external threats, it is our moral duty to stand with them. On behalf of CAMPCO and the entire farming community we represent, we are proud to contribute Rs 5 crore to the National Defence Fund”, he said.
Established in 1962, the National Defence Fund is dedicated to the welfare of the armed forces, paramilitary personnel, and their dependents. It operates entirely on voluntary contributions from individuals and organizations, without any allocation from the central government budget.
CAMPCO’s contribution is part of a broader wave of support from various sectors in India. For instance, Dr. M.N. Rajendra Kumar, President of the South Canara District Central Cooperative Bank (SCDCC), announced a donation of Rs 3 crore to the NDF .
Similarly, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy pledged one month’s salary to the fund, urging others to follow suit in support of Operation Sindoor, a military initiative aimed at eliminating terrorism . G. Niranjan, Chairman of the Telangana Backward Classes Commission, also donated a month’s salary, expressing solidarity with the armed forces following the tragic Pahalgam incident .
These contributions highlight the collective resolve of Indian citizens and organizations to support the nation’s defense forces. CAMPCO’s initiative, in particular, reflects the cooperative’s deep-rooted values of social responsibility and its commitment to national causes.
