Biscomaun Chairman pulls off seat on Vamnicom Board

The Management Committee of Vamnicom-the premier cooperative training institute in the country was reconstituted last week with the Additional Secretary of Ministry appointed as the Chairman. Surprisingly, Biscomaun Chairman Dr Sunil Kumar Singh also figures as one of the members in the list.

Talking to Indian Cooperative a victorious Singh said” I feel humbled”.

Singh is the lone representative not only from Bihar but also from any member-based cooperative in the country.

The current Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh belongs to Bihar and people in the know of things attribute his (Sunil’s) inclusion in the management committee to his proximity to the Minister.

A protégé of Lalu Prasad Yadav Singh is considered adept at juggling sharply opposed political equations. The mega Cooperative show he organized last year in Patna saw the presence of both Radha Mohan and Lalu Prasad.

Ever eager to support Lalu Prasad on any issue, Sunil says ” his leader (Lalu Prasad) knows that being in cooperative I have to have relations with the agriculture minister”.

Besides his amiable nature, Biscomaun Chairman’s caste is also cited as one of the possible reasons responsible for his nomination to the Vamnicom Board. It bears recall –the Union Minister and the Biscomaun Chairman belong to the same caste.

There are eleven members in the MC. It includes Central Registrar, Chairman of NABARD, Chief Executive of NCUI, Principal Secretaries of Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, DG of NIAM, Jaipur, Director, Institute of Rural Management, among others.

The Committee will have a three year term as the highest decision making body of Vamnicom.
