Bihar Cooperative Minister who slided into controversy by RJD led campaign against him finally got bail on Friday from an Aurangabad court.

Mr Singh was granted regular bail in connection with a case charging him with

making communal and inflamatory speech in Aurangabad district in 1992.

Additional District and Sessions Judge (II) Alok Pandey allowed Singh’s prayer for bail in the instant case.

Earlier, In charge Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashutosh Khetan had rejected Singh’s prayer for bail after he had surrendered before him following the directive of the Patna High Court on May 26.

Patna High Court had on May 20 asked the senior BJP MLA, who had to resign as state cooperative minister on May 19 under pressure from Opposition parties, to surrender in the wake of his being declared an absconder by a court in Aurangabad district 16-years ago.

Singh had resigned as Cooperative Minister a day after the RJD had petitioned Governor Devanand Konwar seeking his dismissal in the wake of the lower court’s order declaring him absconder.

Singh was declared an absconder by a court in May 1995 after he had repeatedly failed to appear before it in connection with the case registered by the police in 1992 for making communal and inflamatory speech in Aurangabad.

Hailing the court decision Ranjit Kumar Singh, cooperative leader said that he knew long ago that court is going to rule in former minister’s favour. Cooperative movement will gain strength if Mr Ramadhar Singh is reinstated in the cabinet, he said.
